This is an absolutely amazing place. Pictures do not do it justice. It is magnificent and steeped in history. It’s like staying in a museum (in a good way!) The place is huge with many places to relax and enjoy your holidays. The bathrooms are modern and everything was in perfect working order. We also catered a meal, which I highly recommend. The on-site villa hostess, Luisa, is very accommodating and kind. She keeps this place spotless which is quite a feat considering the size. She is truly wonderful. We were very sad to leave! We only wish there was a book describing the history of the place and the beautiful artifacts.

We spent in Manuel’s place unforgettable week in September. This house is absolutely special. It’s huge and full of character and amazing details. Makes you feel like you live in a fairy tale palace. Luisa, a house keeper, is helpful and friendly. She keeps the house clean and shiny. Nice touch is that you get fresh bread every morning. You can also order breakfast , if you wish. Rooms are cleaned every day and beds are made every day as well. The house has several outdoor patios and a beautiful pool. We were staying with a large group of people and had more than enough space. Location is good but you need a car to get around and see the country. This place is amazing and I would definitely come there again.

Quinta do Tojal surpassed all our expectations. We were a group of 10 people and the house accommodated us all comfortably and beautifully. This historical house offers great facilities such as a large swimming pool, barbecue grill, pizza oven. A wide choice of dining spaces, large and comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms, all very well cleaned and maintained. Luiza, the house keeper is a fantastic help giving local tips (her cousins’ homemade olive oil is delicious - definitely worth ordering some from her!) and brings lovely bread every morning. We also loved the wine from quinta da alorna given to us by Manuel at arrival. There is a wide choice of activities in the area around the house - visits to river beaches, lakes, historical xisto villages, foraging walks.
